Manjari Phadnis was born on 10th July 1988 to an Army officer Col. Bharat Fadnis & mother Mrs. Ruchi Fadnis, at Sagar, near Bhopal in Madhya Pradesh. Her dad being from the defence background she grew up in Nagaland, Shimla, Pune, Jammu, Delhi & Finally Mumbai, making it difficult for her to answer anyone whenever asked, 'Where are you from?
Coming from a musical background, her Granny being an Indian classical music teacher & a radio singer, Manjari's inclination for music started very early & she started her life in performing arts initially as a singer & dancer on stage at a tender age of 3, at the Gaiety Theatre, Shimla. Manjari 1st time tasted theatre & the art of dramatics when she was 14 in school & fell in love with it.
By the time she was 16 she got selected to debut in a leading role in her 1st film "Rok Sako To Rok Lo" as a high school girl. Though the film didn't do well at the Boxoffice, it won her great reviews by critics calling her 'A Powerhouse of Talent' earning her a nomination for Best Debutante At Zee Cine Awards & at GIFA Awards.
After that did 2 more films with the Same team of her 1st film under Arindam Chaudhuri's banner 'Planman Motion Pictures'. One a Bengali film called 'Faltu' which later won a National Award for Best Film in social awareness category & another film called 'I'm 24' which released many years later. She also did a film called Mumbai Salsa produced by Vikram Bhatt. Meanwhile she continued her education via correspondence & though she was keen to study Psychology, due to work commitments she chose to graduate in BA Sociology.
The next film Manjari signed brought her into limelight. It was 'Jaane Tu Ya Jaane Na' under Aamir Khan Productions directed by Abbas Tyrewala which went on to become a Blockbuster & also earning Manjari her 1st award in the industry, The Stardust Award for ' Breakthrough Performance' also followed by Maharashtra Times Award for 'Talent of The Year'. After Jaane Tu Jaane Na Manjari was signed for The Walt Disney Studios 1st Hindi live action venture 'Zokkomon' in one of the leading roles with Darsheel Safari & Anupam Kher.She was then signed as the Brand Ambassador Onida for 2 years. One of her big breaks recently was the ad she did opposite Shahrukh Khan for Hyundai i10.
She also acted in a few Southindian language films, giving her the opportunity to work on one film under the guidance of the Legendary K. Vishvanath, the multiple National Award winning director. Her films Warning3D under Anubhav Sinha Productions, Grand Masti which is the sequel to the 2004 Hit Masti directed by Indra Kumar have released recently.
